These Halloween Witch Hat Cupcakes are made by topping cupcakes with sugar cones and adding detail with buttercream and icing. They are so much fun, spooky, and so delicious.
These Halloween witch hat cupcakes are perfect for Halloween parties or to make at home with your family just for fun. The ingredients are easy to find and they’re easy to make but do require patience and time. If you are looking for a fun Halloween recipe this is the best idea. Even if you’ve never decorated cupcakes before, I promise that you’ll be able to do this.
Even though I rather use melted black chocolate to cover the ice cream cones, you can use edible black spray or black icing. I added some edible glitter to add some sparkles. You can make your own buttercream, but you can use store-bought icing.
Here’s what you need to make these witch cupcakes:
- Cupcakes, I love chocolate, but you can make any flavor.
- Ice cream cones
- Fudge Stripes cookies
- Black candy melts, black icing, or edible black spray
- Purple buttercream or icing (to frost the cupcakes)
- Green buttercream or icing (for the hat ribbon)
- Yellow buttercream or icing (a few tablespoons for the hat buckle)
- Edible spray glitter
- Piping bags
- Decorating tips #4, #44, #2D
Instructions:
Bake your cupcakes and let them cool.
Use purple buttercream to frost cupcakes using decorating tip #2D, set aside.
Cover ice cream cones with black melted candy melt or black icing.
Glue hats to cookies and then glue which hats to cupcakes.
Using a decorating tip #44 inside a pipping bag make the green ribbon around the hat.
Then using a decorating tip #4 with yellow icing inside a pipping bag make the buckle.
Spray some edible glitter and enjoy!
If you want to take these cupcakes to another level, make the broom. I used yellow fondant to make the head and a pretzle stick to make the broom stick. To facilitate the process I use a silicon mold to shape the broom’s head.
